Sunshine Week 2024
Sunshine Week is an annual, nationwide celebration of access to public information and what it means for you and your community. New Hampshire news outlets use this week to publish reports on local government.
On Monday, March 11, 2024, in celebration of Sunshine Week, a national event to draw attention to the need for access to public information, the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications, the New England First Amendment Coalition (NEFAC), and the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College (NHIOP) will jointly host a panel discussion. Titled "Keeping the Light On: Holding Government Accountable,” this event will be in-person at the Loeb School's new location inside the NHIOP.
The panel discussion, scheduled from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm, will delve into crucial issues surrounding government accountability, featuring panelists who are involved in right-to-know cases from different perspectives:
• Gilles Bissonnette, Legal Director, ACLU New Hampshire
• The Honorable N. William Delker, Justice, NH Superior Court
• Emily Gray Rice, City Solicitor, City of Manchester, NH
• Gregory V. Sullivan, First Amendment Law, Malloy & Sullivan
The discussion will be moderated by Annmarie Timmins, Senior Reporter at the NH Bulletin and board member of the NH Press Association.
Sunshine Week is an annual occasion championing transparency and the public's right to access government information. Since 2020, the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications and NEFAC have collaborated to offer free events, educational resources, and media materials provided by the Society of Professional Journalists to commemorate this important week.
