Statement on the New Hampshire Sunday News, May 1

On May 1, 2022, the School shared this statement:

The Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications is saddened and horrified by allegations contained in the May 1, 2022, New Hampshire Sunday News regarding the late William Loeb.

Mr. Loeb was not affiliated with our school. It was founded in 1999 by Nackey Scripps Loeb, who succeeded her late husband as the owner of the Union Leader in 1981 upon his passing. She bequeathed to the school her ownership stock in the newspaper. The school, a non-profit 501c3 organization, continues as the majority owner of the Union Leader, but operates independently of it. The school admires the stand the Union Leader has taken in reporting on the allegations involving a past owner. 

The school will continue to pursue, and deliver on, its educational mission of promoting and defending the First Amendment and fostering interest, integrity, and excellence in journalism and other forms of communication.
