Introducing the Pro Series

Affordable Online Trainings Launched at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications

In an ever-evolving world where effective communication is a cornerstone of success, the Nackey Scripps Loeb School of Communications announces the launch of a new Pro Series—affordable online trainings designed to elevate communication skills, featuring expert instructors and accessible content.

Each course in the Pro Series runs for four weeks and is curated and taught by seasoned communicators who have extensive experience in their respective fields. Drawing from their real-world expertise in strategic communication, public relations, marketing, and more, instructors provide invaluable insights and practical skills to help students gain skills for professional development. Pro Series trainings require advance registration at loebschool.org/register. Course fees support the nonprofit School’s mission. All classes and events, including seven free Winter 2024 classes, can be found at the School’s website.

“At the Nackey Scripps Loeb School of Communications, we firmly believe that quality education should be within reach of everyone. To make this a reality, we have set prices for our new Pro Series at an affordable level, removing financial barriers that often stand in the way of professional development for adult learners. In alignment with our commitment to community engagement, we will continue to offer free, expert-led training sessions on First Amendment and communication-related topics, with the Pro Series complementing these offerings,” explained executive director Laura Simoes.

Two Pro Series courses are being offered online this winter:

Bad News: Responding to and Communicating through Difficult Issues

Four Tuesdays, January 23, 30, February 6, 13, 2024

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM (Online)

Every business or organization inevitably faces challenges that may adversely affect their audience and public perception. The Pro Series' "Bad News" crisis communications course equips participants with effective crisis communication strategies, enabling them to craft clear, concise, and accurate messaging strategies. These skills help navigate through challenging situations, minimizing negative impact and occasionally transforming them into positive opportunities or interactions. Instructor Will Hinkle is crisis-tested, and excels at sharing positive news, too, as he does at Eversource, and as a former political communications expert.

Creating Digital Strategy for Nonprofits

Designed for nonprofit staff and volunteer leaders, this four-week course delves into the world of digital strategy.
