Afterwords: a new series at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications

Following regular classes at the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications this fall, the public is invited to join bonus conversations featuring experts in topics of importance to the School's mission: communications, free press, free speech, civic engagement, and more.

The Afterwords sessions are free and open to the public on Wednesdays, 7pm-8pm, on September 27, October 4, and October 11 Afterwords will be held at the Nackey S. Loeb School, inside the NH Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, Manchester, NH.

Navigating Truth in a Digital Age: Ethics & Media

As part of the Nackey S. Loeb School of Communications' Afterwords series, this session will explore the intricacies of media ethics in the modern age. Violet Victoria, Associate Director at the Center for Ethics in Society at Saint Anselm College will offer thought-provoking insights and examine the ethical challenges faced by journalists, content creators, and consumers in an era where information dissemination is instantaneous and widespread. Attendees can expect to learn and ask their own questions about how ethical principles can shape responsible media practices and how we all play a role in fostering a more informed and conscientious media ecosystem.

 

Hail to the Chief—Presidential Politics in New Hampshire

Neil Levesque, director of the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, will join us to discuss the significance of the Presidential Primary in the context of New Hampshire politics. He will shed light on the pivotal role that the Granite State plays in shaping the nation's political landscape through stories from his career and his unique place in the building the Nackey S. Loeb School now calls home. This conversation is a must-attend for anyone seeking to better understand the current election cycle and the mark left on candidates by New Hampshire’s Primary voters.

 

Empowering Democracy

Anna Brown of Citizens Count will offer a sneak preview of the upcoming Legislative session. What’s hot and what’s not among our 424-member State Legislature as we head into the start of the New Year and where many of these elected are getting ready to defend their records and their seats in 2024 elections? Citizens Count, a NH nonprofit, has a mission of empowering Granite Staters with the tools and knowledge needed to actively participate in their democracy. Anna will share information about their work to research and profile every candidate running for state or federal office in New Hampshire, ensuring voters have access to detailed backgrounds and issue positions.
