To be successful in today’s professional environment, individuals need to know how to communicate confidently to a variety of different audiences. Learn how to channel your nervous energy to speak effectively while delivering public presentations to small and large audiences. This class will enable you to develop professional presentations through information and application. You will gain confidence using proper eye contact and the use of hand gestures. You will also learn how to use a step-by-step methodology to develop presentations, effectively use a variety of visual aids, and answer difficult questions no matter the audience.

 

In this class, you will learn to:

·      Use proper eye contact to increase confidence and engage audience members,

·      Understand the importance of using hand gestures to control nervous energy,

·      Apply a step-by-step methodology in putting together a professional presentation,

·      Develop and deliver appropriate visual aids for a variety of audiences, and

·      Present well-organized and planned presentations to a wide range of listeners.

 

Your Instructor: Andrea Bard, a Loeb School Instructor in Public Speaking and Presentations curricula, has been teaching and training in the field of communication for more than 35 years. Her specialties include public speaking, intercultural and organizational communication, and business etiquette. She is a recently retired Associate Professor of Communication from Southern New Hampshire University where she taught for more than 25 years. Bard holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Communication from Northern Michigan University, a Master of Science Degree in Business and Organizational Communication from Emerson College and is certified in Professional Business Etiquette through the Etiquette Institute. Andrea will be assisted by the Loeb School’s executive director, Laura Simoes.
